During your pet's life, he or she might need a surgical procedure as part of health care. Hometown Animal Hospital is one of the top 25% animal care facilities certified by the American Animal Hospital Association in the country. At Hometown Animal Hospital, we are equipped and trained to perform most surgical procedures on dogs and cats. We communicate with you before surgery so you understand all treatment options and each step of the surgical process, after surgery to keep you fully informed about your pet's surgery and to keep you informed of your pet's progress and recovery.
Before surgery, we perform a thorough physical exam and diagnostics. During surgery, your pet is closely monitored by the doctor and a knowledgeable, veterinary assistant using state of the art monitoring equipment.
Keeping your pet as comfortable as possible is important to us. Therefore, your dog and cat will receive pre-op and post-op pain control to keep your pet comfortable and aid in his or her healing process. We may prescribe at home pain medication as well, to keep your pet comfortable during his at-home recovery.
Due to the high pet population and health risks we recommend female dogs and cats be spayed by 6 months of age and male dogs and cats neutered by 6- 9 months of age.
Laser surgery minimizes bleeding, reduces pain and swelling and promotes more rapid healing. When your pet undergoes laser surgery, he or she will recover more quickly and face less post-operative pain. Laser surgery also is more precise and greatly reduces the risk of infection.
